Niklas Grapatin is a portrait photographer based in Hamburg, known for his intimate, creatively charged images that emphasize visual storytelling.
We collaborated to design a subtle yet playful system of digital interaction. His photography is showcased within soft, natural color palettes, enhancing the emotional depth of his work. Built with Kirby CMS, the website empowers Niklas to effortlessly manage and update his portfolio, ensuring full creative control.

Development process
The research for this project focused primarily on exploring unconventional user interactions. The centerpiece of the design is a vertical slideshow that zooms in and out of photos, offering a dynamic and engaging viewing experience. Every aspect of the website was meticulously hand-coded using Kirby CMS, combining custom CSS, JavaScript, and PHP to ensure smooth performance and flexibility. This bespoke approach allowed us to tailor the site specifically to Niklas’ creative vision.
